are we too obsessed with mental illness?
I've been reasntly thinking ‘why is everyone so depressed and sad?’ Is it because of social media, is it a trend to be mentally ill? Or are we just obsessed with the idea of being sad and depressed or whatever mental illness people might claim to have. I think we are I think we romanticize mental illness too much to the point where it dangerous, are generation has more suicides then ever before and why is that? It because we romanticize mental illness and depression. Mental illness is a very serious topic and SHOULD NOT be romanticized. We literally have come up with the slang “$h” meaning self-harm. why are we making up slang and abdication for a serious topic? Anyways I just wanted to share my thoughts on how badly social media is effecting our mental health as an economy and that mental illness shouldn't be romanticized.

not gonna like, there’s many factors as to why this would take place but the one i’d like to start of with is comfort and accountability. a lot of us, unfortunately, find comfort in sadness and solidarity to the point of no return and that’s when the unhealthy codependency of romanization takes place. it’s an escape of acceptance of how this is not normal, safe or okay. for someone people, this kind of dissociation is keeping them alive, especially if they’re aware of their helplessness.
they probably think that it makes them more emotionally intelligent/sensitive when you suffer from some turmoil....
